1. Jamunkhadi Simsar

Jamunkhadi Simsar is one of the best places to visit in the Jhapa district. It is located in Surunga VDC, 9 km west from Birtamode, Jhapa which occupies around 20 Bighas of land with many attractions. It is a part of the Jamunbari Community Jungle Consumer Committee. The place included two ponds Ganga and Jamuna, but due to lack of protection, Ganga was no longer exists and only remains Jamuna Pond.

This place is led by Parshuram Giri. The most attractions of this place are the zoo, a place for boating, children’s fun park, and a picnic spot. At the zoo, we can see many animals such as Porcupines, Vultures, Anacondas, Bears and Chinese rats, and many more.

2. Arjundhara Jaleswordham

Arjundhara Temple is one of the famous religious places of Jhapa. It is located at the Arjundhara VDC, 5km north from Birtamode. A nun, ‘Khedababa’ had discovered this place, and after that people made this temple and named Arjundhara Jaleswor Dham. It has an ancient history of Arjun, a talent person in bow and arrow art in Mahavarat times.

 It is also popular as Pashupatinath of the east’. In this place, people come to celebrate Mela during Balachaturdashi, Shivaratri and SauneSombar, etc. There is also a Gurukul Education institution for the Brahmins to read, and there is also a cow farm.

We can see statues of different gods such as Lord Shiva and Lord Hanuman. The people believed that Lord Shiva changed into Lord Hanuman to help Lord Ram to find Sita.

3. Kankai Mai

The Kankai Mai is one of the famous pilgrimage sites of Nepal which situated in the Jhapa district. There is a concrete bridge over this river which we also call Kankai Bride. It is the longest bridge in Nepal which is 702 m long. There are millions of Hindu Devotees living throughout Nepal. 

People worship this river as Kankai Mai, the goddess Kankai. There is Maidhar River on the western bank and Kotihom is on the eastern one where we can observe various Ashrams and beautiful Gardens. One of the biggest Melas (occasions) of the eastern region, Kankai Mela which held here every MagheSankranti (the first day of the tenth month ‘Magh’ of the Nepali calendar.

4. Kichak Badh Mandir

Kichak Badh Mandir is one of the famous temples in the eastern region of Nepal. It situates in Prithivinagar, Jhapa district of Nepal. This temple is 64 years old, The local people believed that place had named after the character Kichak, his own negative attitude towards the queen Draupadi killed him in the Mahabharata times.

 There are two statues that depict Bhimsen slaying Kichak and another main attraction of this temple is the pond. The nearby cities of Kichakbad are Maynaguri, Biratnagar, Dharan, Itahari.

Kichak Dada is also famous for Kichak Badh Dada, it is a good location for national and international tourists. Local people organize a religious fair every year in Maghe Sukla Purnima when people from different communities and religions attend the fair. 5. Satasi Dham

Satasi Dham is located in the Satasidham Village Development Community which is one of the famous religious places of Jhapa.  It is a really beautiful place and people believe that if we pray here with a pure heart then our wish comes true.
